2014 HSNCT conversion stats

Post by Important Bird Area »

These are ready for discussion.

Overall: 84.4% of tossups answered correctly, 20.2% powered

(2013: 85.1% correct, 23.8% powered

2012: 84.1% correct, 25.7% powered

2011: 82.3% correct, 20.6% powered

2010: 78.5% correct, 15.7% powered

2009: 73.3% correct, 14.9% powered)

(We were trying to make powers a bit stingier this year, and apparently succeeded.)

Least-converted tossups (min. 70 rooms played):

Tripitaka
Coriolanus
chromatic number
Chapultepec
mantle plumes
--30% conversion--
Robert Peary
Satyricon
--35% conversion--
Nikos Kazantzakis
Richard Lovelace
Arthur Compton
Myron
Linear B
powers of 2
--40% conversion--
(the last three listed were at exactly 40% conversion, 34 rooms out of 85 Saturday prelims)

Nothing here was as difficult as Tammuz was last year.

The Charlotte Amalie tossup was in the playoffs, so presumably fewer than 70 rooms heard it, but since it was discussed somewhat extensively, do you have the conversion rate for it?

I wasn't going to ask, but seeing as the Tripitaka is the least-converted tossup on that list, what were the exact conversion figures for that tossup?
