SOUNDTRACK

Aakash Patel and I are excited to announce SOUNDTRACK, a Set Of Unrequested, Nevertheless Desired, Tossups Requiring Auditory Composition Knowledge. This tournament will consist of at least five packets of 20 pyramidal audio tossups each, with each tossup lasting anywhere from 60 to 90 seconds and having anywhere from 5 to 6 clues (in the style of Imaginary Landscape).
DISTRIBUTION
6 movies 2000-present
6 movies 1980-1999
4 movies pre-1980
2 television
2 video games
The questions will be spread across genres and composers (and the TV and video game questions across time periods as well), but there will be no hard genre distribution. The sole exception is the French New Wave, which has explicitly been barred from inclusion with extreme prejudice.
Each question will begin with a cue: either "name the work" or "name the series." We have done our best to keep clues in "name the work" tossups to clues unique to the work in question; however, this does not preclude tossups on a particular entry in a series. TV show questions will be considered "works" if all the clues come from a single season and "series" otherwise, to ensure that a cue of "name the work" does not mean the answer is not a TV show.
The vast majority of clues are of original works composed for the specific answerline, but we reserve the right to use non-original works that are heavily associated with a particular film.
There is no set difficulty to which this tournament is aspiring, but we expect most tossups to be gettable. Translating the Imaginary Landscape .5 easy/.375 medium/.125 hard scale to soundtracks would be roughly accurate.
LOGISTICS
This tournament is currently about 30% written, with about 80% of answerlines selected. We tentatively plan to mirror it at HSNCT and NSC 2018. We are also open to other mirrors after those sites, such as at next year's summer opens. Please PM me or Aakash to express interest.
We will be writing at least five packets, and possibly a sixth. This tournament will cost $10 per player.
The format is yet to be decided, but will probably consist of a room ladder, with exact promotion/relegation determined by field size.
Edit 2/14: the tournament is now over 2/3 done.
Edit 4/12: the tournament is done.
