Re: ACRONYM 11 @ U of MN - 2/18/18 (Open Event)
I guess I'll start early. Anybody need a extra player?
At ACRONYM 10, as a one person team, I handed the eventual winners of the tournament their only loss of the day. The rest of my day didn't go too well, but it's a fun little story. Playing quiz bowl alone is better than not playing quiz bowl at all, but it gets old fast. Of the traditional categories, I'm best at music. I'm pretty good at TV and movies, decent at sports, and horrible at video games/comics/etc. My sweet spot though is questions that don't fit well into a given category. Oh, and I'm 34 with knowledge that skews even a tad older than that, so consider that a benefit or detriment however you like.
Edit: I wasn't expecting two open mirrors in the same location. The date in March is more convenient for me since it means I won't have to miss the home stretch of KVSC Trivia. As such, please kindly ignore my plea above.

As a member of said eventual winning team, I will say that that game has been oft referenced in the past 10 months (in a good-natured, HUMBLE. by Kendrick Lamar sort of way). I hope you find a team and compete; we'd love a rematch!ArloLyle wrote:

If anyone is at all on the fence regarding which open mirror to play between this one and the one in March, please choose this one. Registration is currently quite low on this, and considering the cost of rooms we need around 5-6 teams just to break even. If the other mirror truly works better for you, that's cool too - this mirror just needs more teams.

Big congrats to The Bus That Couldn't Slow Down (Rob Carson, Carsten Gehring, Samantha Ross, Andrew Hart) on running the table and winning the premiere of ACRONYM 11. Thanks to everyone who came to play/staff - this was a blast. Stats coming ASAP (should be today).
