Quiz Bowl Fact of the Day

Post by slothslothsloth »

(We weren't sure if this was exactly the right place to put this thread, but the description did say something about ways to study, so we're going for it.)

Created August 19th of this year, Quiz Bowl Fact of the Day is a Facebook page devoted to conveniently delivering relevant quiz bowl information to your News Feed. The page is run by myself and several other high school and college quiz bowl players. Our goal is to improve our own playing skill and help anyone else who wants to along the way. As a result, we try to post facts (both our own and those submitted by our readers) that are both informative and appear relatively early in toss-ups (so, yes, some stock). Already we have hundreds of subscribers and our posts reach up to a few thousand people a day. However, we're always looking to expand.

As a clarification, we actually post multiple facts per day (we have 8 admins who post under nicknames), the limitation being that each day of the week corresponds to a certain subject. The distribution (available in our long description on the page) has been selected based upon what we feel are the most common subjects in the current quiz bowl canon, although it is a living document and always subject to review.

We are by no means advocating QBFOD as a stand alone for quiz bowl study, but it does provide a steady stream of information that you might not otherwise have in your possession, and we would appreciate it if you checked us out.

The main page can be found at http://www.facebook.com/qbfod.
We also run a Twitter (found at https://twitter.com/QBFOD), which posts the exact same facts as we post on Facebook, but be warned that it is usually mass-updated about once a day and we won't be able to post some of our longer facts.

Thanks, we hope you enjoy!
