Northwestern Quizbowl is pleased to announce another edition of the annual Jr. Wildcat middle school tournament to be held on Saturday, February 27th, 2016. This tournament is restricted to students from grades 6-8. I, Dylan Minarik, will be directing the tournament again this year.
Location: Jr. Wildcat will take place, as usual, on the Evanston campus of Northwestern. This tournament will be held in the Fisk/Locy buildings just like last year. They are connected by a corridor so there isn't that much walking to do.
Question Set and Format: We will be using the NAQT MS-17 Set for this tournament, which is only being played by area schools that are members of the Leyden-Norwood Conference. Format will be 4-v-4 with 20 tossups, 20 bonuses, powers and negs. There will be no computational math. Format is TBA, but we would like to guarantee 8 to 10 games per team. Teams agree to play all guaranteed games when they register.
Prices and Payment:
The fee structure is as follows:
$90 per team
-$5 for a fully functioning buzzer set. Limited to 2.
-$15 for a moderator. Moderators must be able to finish a round in at least 30 minutes. I will also take one staffer discount for a statskeeper.
Register for this tournament by sending me an e-mail indicating how many teams, buzzers, and staffers you will bring. Please use our club's new e-mail account: [email protected]
You can pay for this tournament on the competition day by cash or check. We also accept checks by mail- please mail all checks to:

Please make all checks out to "Northwestern University."

I have decided to expand the field to 24 based on the number of moderators I can get. Further expansion seems unlikely since we would need even more staff and more rooms, potentially in another building.

After a storm of registrations, we have reached our field cap of 24. I have started a waitlist in case teams have to drop before the 27th.

Congratulations to Barrington Station A, who defeated Daniel Wright A in a one-game final for 1st place. Aptakisic A took home 3rd place by defeating Keith A in another placement game.
Full statistics should hopefully be up by the end of the day tomorrow. Since we didn't have stats ready to give out individual scoring prizes on Saturday, I'll be distributing them the morning of Jeff Price's Barrington Invitational.
