IESA State Series & Moderator Training

Post by the return of AHAN »

IESA wrote:The IESA is preparing to post the scholastic bowl state series assignments by the end of today. If you are interested in hosting either a scholastic bowl regional or sectional, please contact me. For those of you who have already submitted your host interest, you will soon be receiving a confirmation email regarding your status. The regional and sectional host packets will be sent out via email early next week.

Even after the assignments have been posted, please continue to monitor them, as we will have occasional drops that could alter your area. Also, be sure to remember that there have been significant changes regarding the regional format, specifically those with five teams in their area. You can review these specifics on page 6 of the IESA Scholastic Bowl Terms and Conditions located below:

The Scholastic Bowl Password Mailing has been sent out for your usage. If you have received this information, please forward it along to your scholastic bowl coach.

On Wednesday, February 5 at 4:00 p.m., the Illinois Elementary School Association will continue its interactive webinar series, this time introducing one exclusively designed to help educate those interested in becoming a scholastic bowl moderator. The presentation will be run by longtime IESA state moderator Jack Small, and will include questions and answers throughout.

We are strongly encouraging each member school to have anyone who currently serves as a moderator for their local matches to watch this webinar and also "recruit" at least one other person who is interested in becoming a moderator to watch the webinar as well. This will be an excellent opportunity for scholastic bowl moderators to receive some hands-on training and tips for becoming a better moderator.

The webinar will primarily focus on the key commands and instructions when moderating a scholastic bowl match. Additional topics to be discussed include a guide to starting and ending a match, in-game scenarios you may face, assessing sportsmanship, tips before your first match and much more!

The webinar, like all in the series, is free to view for anyone interested and is available for registration below:
