Detroit Country Day Middle School Tournament (1/26/2013)

It is my pleasure to announce the inaugural Detroit Country Day School Middle School Quiz Bowl Tournament, to be held on Saturday, January 26, 2013. This will be a NAQT untimed event, using set MS-05; the top 15% of teams in attendance will qualify for NAQT middle school nationals in Chicago.

The tournament will be held at the Detroit Country Day School Upper School campus in Beverly Hills, MI; we are located in the Birmingham/Bloomfield Hills area, 20 miles northwest of Detroit.

As of now, there is no cap on the field size; the exact format of prelim and playoff rounds will be determined once the number of teams is finalized.

The fee schedule will be as follows:

$70 for a school’s first team
$60 for each additional team
-$10 per working buzzer system (maximum 2/school)
-$10/team distance discount for travelling over 100 miles one way as per Google Maps

To register, please email me ([email protected]) with the amount of teams/buzzers that you will be bringing. We will take registrations through January 21st.

As is customary in quiz bowl, we’d prefer payment by check on your arrival at the tournament. Please make checks payable to:

Congratulations to our winner, St. Patrick's White Lake, who cleared the field by two games with a perfect 9-0 record. DCDS A and St. Michael A both finished 7-2, with DCDS A claiming second place in a tiebreak game.
