Longfellow Middle School is pleased to announce its inaugural quiz bowl tournament, Longfellow Academic Tournament To Endallwars (LATTE) to be held on April 9. We will be using the CMST II which is being mirrored at various locations across the country during March and April. We are opening this tournament to elementary schools, middle schools and junior highs through 8th grade. Longfellow's A and B teams will help moderate and scorekeep. Other Longfellowites will be playing in the tournament.

Due to extensive renovation at our school, the tournament will be held at Kilmer Middle School, 8100 Wolftrap Rd., Vienna, VA 22182. Registration begins at 8am with a light breakfast provided. Matches will begin at 9am. We will break one hour for lunch and hope to finish by 4:30 pm.

The registration fee is $50 with a $10 discount for each working buzzer set and staffer. We will accept cash or checks on the day of the event. Checks should be made out to Longfellow Middle School with "Knowledge Masters" in the memo line.

To register, email me at [email protected]

Right now, the field will be capped at 16. We will have several rounds of round robin and then reshuffle teams.

This is our first time hosting, so advice is appreciated.

Field update: (teams, buzzers, staffers)

Haycock (5, 1, 2)
Longfellow (2, 3, 4)
St. Augustine (1, 0, 0)
St. Anselm's (1, 0, 0)

Daaaaaaaaaang it.

This is our It's Ac tape date. I'll try my damndest to get someone to take a team or two, but it may be difficult seeing as neither I nor my coach will be available. I'll try to figure out some arrangement; we really don't want to miss this.

This is a reminder to consider contacting your middle schools and junior highs to register for LATTE 4/9. Maintaining a strong high school quiz bowl program greatly depends on nurturing talent in the earlier years. Like eating vegetables, getting your feeder schools involved will do you a whole lotta good.

If we include two teams from Longfellow, there are a total of 8 teams right now. Field update is at the top of this thread.
