Scobol Solo and Masonics 2017-18

Post by Stained Diviner »

The Scobol Solo set and questions from the Masonic Tournament are available for mirroring again this year.

The Scobol Solo set has 15 regular rounds and 3 nationals level rounds. It is tossup only. It will be available starting November 4. I am writing 90% of it, and Noah Prince is writing 10%. Jonah Greenthal is helping a lot with the editing.

For the first time this year, questions from the Masonic set will be available in a 20/20 format. There will be 12 rounds. The first date they can be used is March 3. The distribution is not standard:
Lit 4.5/4.5
History 4.5/3.5
Science not including Math 5/5
Math 1/3 (non-computational tossups, mixed computational bonuses)
Fine Arts 2/2
Religion and Mythology 1/1
Social Studies 1/1 (geography, US government, psych, econ, current events)
Miscellaneous 1/0 (pop culture, journalism, sports, agriculture, industrial arts, technology, consumer education)

The set should be around regular difficulty. I am writing about 70% of it, Noah Prince and Alex Dzurick are writing the rest, and Jonah is helping a lot with the editing.

The Solo Set was mirrored at Southwestern (IL).
A set using the Masonic questions will be used at Belton and Mexico in Missouri in March.

EDIT: MOQBA will mirror the Solo questions in May.

It's quite possible that the Masonic Set is done being used. If I don't hear otherwise, I will post it at the beginning of April.

Masonics is posted. If you go in the Masonic Sectional folder, you will also find the set that was used at a few tournaments in Missouri that is formatted like a normal set.

It now looks like there will be no more uses of the Solo set. I'll post it in about a week unless somebody gives me a reason not to.
