Expanded Intl History Olympiad Eligibility for US Students

Post by Great Bustard »

NHBB/IHBB has revised its policy regarding qualification to the International History Olympiad for students attending school in the USA. Effective immediately, all US students who won a state or regional tournament for either the National History Bee or the National History Bowl during the 2013-14 or 2014-15 school year are eligible to attend the 2015 International History Olympiad. As per the standard 2 year qualification rule, any US student on a winning Bowl team or winning the Bee is therefore also eligible for the 2016 International History Olympiad (which will likely be in Hawaii, though we have not yet confirmed this).
Note that this does not apply for the US History Bee, but it does apply for students who won a National History Bee tournament at the elementary or middle school level, or were on a winning National History Bowl team at the middle school level. This policy switch is basically intended to help students who were unable to attend Nationals due to cost considerations or other conflicts. We will be reaching out over the next few weeks to all students and teams for whom this switch applies as well.
Separately, we have also decided to allow parents, coaches, and other adults to stay at William and Mary and take their meals there if they are interested. There is a separate registration charge for this which can be found on the Olympiad registration page at http://www.historyolympiad.com
