Scarlet Knight Fall @ Rutgers University (9/22/2018)

Post by Votre Kickstarter Est Nul »

Rutgers University-New Brunswick will be hosting the third iteration of the Scarlet Knight Fall Invitational Tournament on September 22, 2018. It will be run on an NAQT IS-176A.

Field Size: There is a soft field cap of 24 teams, which will increase as we get more staffer and buzzer commitments. We would like to run two separate fields: one novice, one standard. However, we will only do so if there is strong enough interest to provide both fields with a good day. Therefore, we will ask teams when registering whether they are registering for novice or standard In order to ensure that as many schools get to participate as possible, and if enough teams sign up for each we will split the field into standard/novice.

We are not going to set a strict eligibility standard for the novice division, so it is crucial that teams are honest about the placement that is correct for them. We will generally advise teams and players that have performed well at A sets and up to register for standard.

The first three teams of all schools that register will be entered into the field. Fourth, fifth, etc. teams will be added to the waitlist then added as room opens. Teams will be limited to rosters of six players.

Registration and Fees:
Base fee: $80 for your first team, $75 for additional teams
Buzzer discount: -$5
Staffer discount: -$15
Shorthanded teams: Teams composed of 1 or 2 players will be charged $50. All other discounts can still apply.
New team discount: Teams that are new (defined as having played 2 tournaments or less last year) will receive a $15 discount.
The minimum fee per team is $50.

To register, please fill out this form.

Please do not hesitate to email us if you have questions at [email protected].

Payment: All teams must pay by the day of the tournament. Teams that do not will be charged a $25 penalty fee. We will accept either cash or checks. No other form of payment will be accepted. All checks must be made out to “Rutgers University Academic Team”. If your school requires an invoice for payment, please get in touch with us at the email address above.

Location: The tournament will be held in Scott Hall (43 College Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ) on the College Avenue campus of Rutgers-New Brunswick.

Transportation and Parking: Teams driving to the tournament who wish to park on campus must purchase a $5 parking permit here (permits can only be purchased online on weekdays from 8am to 5pm), and use this parking deck (622 George Street, New Brunswick, NJ). Alternatively, teams can park in these off-campus facilities provided by the City of New Brunswick for a slightly higher fee. Scott Hall is also within walking distance of the New Brunswick NJ Transit station on the Northeast Corridor Line.

Schedule: Registration will begin in Scott Hall at 8am and all teams should arrive at 8:30am at the latest. There will be opening announcements at 8:45am, and we hope to begin Round 1 as close to 9am as possible. The exact format will be determined by the final field size, but in any case, teams will be placed in preliminary brackets for morning rounds and then reseeded into playoff and consolation brackets in the afternoon. All teams will be guaranteed at least ten rounds in total.

Food: There are tons of food options near Scott Hall and we would be happy to recommend anything!

We hope to see you all in September!

Assuming the field does indeed split into novice and standard divisions, will this tournament be replacing the tentatively announced (in the NJ date claims thread) late-October Rutgers novice tournament?

As of now that is the intention, though we will still be exploring hosting a later all-novice tournament (part of the idea behind not making this entirely novice was that, from anecdotal knowledge, I know some NJ schools won't have their new players yet)

With just three spots left we're almost full barring expansion. We'd love for some more novice teams to sign up!

The field is full! All teams that sign up from this point on will be placed on the waitlist. We will do our best to expand the field is we can do so.

This is the 2018-19 High School Set Feedback Form. This is used to return feedback on the question set you played to the team that put the set together. Meaningful, constructive feedback from those that were at this tournament, whether as a staffer, coach or player, is welcome via this form.
