LIIIMIT @ Lexington High School, MA (1/6/18)

Post by Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov »

Lexington High School's Quizbowl club is delighted to announce LIIIMIT, to be held at Lexington High School in Lexington, MA on January 6th, 2018.

This tournament will run on the WHAQ II question set, about which more information can be found here - http://www.hsquizbowl.org/forums/viewto ... it=whaq+ii

LIIIMIT is seeking approval as a qualification tournament for PACE NSC, to be held in Reston, VA on June 9-10.

The field cap for this tournament at the moment is 24 teams. To register, please email [email protected] with the amount of teams you intend to bring, the amount of buzzer sets you intend to bring, and if you intend to bring an experienced staffer; as well as with any questions about this tournament. Please include the phone number and email of a team contact (coach or player), as well as if your staffer would be able to bring their own laptop.

This tournament will run on regular quizbowl rules. Teams of 4 with up to 2 substitutes, 20 tossups per untimed round with bonuses, 5 point negs, 15 point powers, no computational math questions.

LIIIMIT will take place at Lexington High School, which is at 251 Waltham Street in Lexington, MA. Tournament registration will run from 8:15 until 8:45, and we aim to begin rounds at 9:00 AM. Teams will play five rounds before lunch, and five rounds after lunch plus a final. Play should conclude around 5:00 PM. Lunch will not be provided by the tournament, however, Lexington center is a 5 minutes' walk away and boasts plenty of convenient lunch options.

The fees for LIIIMIT are as follows:
$80 per team
-$10 experienced staffer discount (max 1 per school)
-$5 functional buzzer set discount (max 2 per school)
-$20 new team discount (applies to schools that have not fielded a team at a pyramidal quizbowl tournament since January 6th, 2016)
-$15/100 miles distance discount
Note that all discounts are from the overall cost, not per team.

If you plan to pay by check, please make the check made out to "Town of Lexington" and indicate "Lexington Quiz Bowl Team" in the memo section.

We hope to see you on January 6th!

I asked our president to convey this but as the post hasn't been changed, Boston Latin will only have one team for LIIIMIT.
Happy Holidays!

Congratulations to AMSA A for winning LIIIMIT! They beat Andover 230-210 in a final that came down to the last tossup. Thank you to all teams for coming on such a cold day, we hope you enjoyed it!

Go to "User Control Panel" --> "Usergroups." Scroll down, find "2017 WHAQ Discussion," click the bubble, and then click submit.
