The University of Delaware Academic Competition Team is pleased to announce our third annual Fall Tournament. The Tournament will take place on November 1st, 2014, at our campus in Newark, DE. In keeping with our goal of continuing to help expand the rapidly growing Philadelphia circuit, this tournament will feature both a Varsity Division and a Newcomer Division for new teams and entering players at established programs. We look forward to welcoming a field of old and new faces.

Questions/Tournament Format
We will be mirroring SCOP Novice for this tournament. The format is TBD based on registration numbers, but all teams will be guaranteed at least 8 matches. We will be using ACF style rules (5 seconds to buzz, 5 seconds to answer a tossup, 5 seconds to answer a bonus part).

Eligibility
To qualify for the Newcomer Division, a team must come from a school that played less than 3 standard pyramidal tournaments during the 2013-2014 school year, OR consist entirely of underclassmen (freshmen and sophomores). Local leagues that use NAQT questions will be excluded from the count of tournaments a school has attended. We are willing to consider exemptions on a case by case basis to allow otherwise ineligible players to play in the Newcomer division. A school registering multiple teams is more than welcome to schedule some in Varsity and some in Newcomer.

Tournament Day
On the day of the tournament, please park at our visitors center lot, 190 S. College Avenue, Newark DE 19716. Registration will start at 8:00am and run till 8:45am. We will be meeting in 115 Purnell Hall, 42 Amstel Avenue. We will have a brief morning meeting, and matches should begin no later than 9:00 to 9:10am. Please be prompt. Lunch will be at approximately 11:30, and there are many options within walking distance in Newark. Further instructions will be sent to teams that have confirmed registration.

Please include them number of Varsity teams, the number of Newcomer teams, the number of buzzers, and the number of moderators you will have with you. I encourage all teams to bring buzzers and volunteer experienced moderators to receive discounts!

Fee Structure
$55 For first registered team
$45 For all subsequent teams
-$10 per team for a school that has played less than 3 quiz bowl invitationals before
-$5 per buzzer
-$ 10 per moderator

The minimum fee is $30 per team. Please make checks payable to the University of Delaware Academic Competition Team.

UDFT III has received gold certification from PACE. This means that the top 20% of teams (rounded up to the nearest integer) will qualify for PACE NSC on the weekend of May 24-25th! More reason to play!

We regret to announce that due to an unanticipated staff shortage, we will have to reduce our field cap from 32 to 24 teams. However, there is still space available, so do remember to register!

Due to a circle of death, Kellenberg A, Georgetown Day School, and Emmaus are playing a two-phase half-packet final. Kellenberg will play in the second phase due to scoring the most points in playoff games.

Congratulations to Noah for the winning the tournament solo. Wilmington Charter A and Smithtown West A came away with the other PACE berths. In our Newcomer Rounds, Archmere Academy claimed victory with just one loss. No advantaged final was played since SCOP has only 11 packets.
