Dorman SeasonEnder (IS135A), 19 April 2014, Spartanburg SC

Post by thomasgnd »

The Dorman High School Academic Team will host its seventh annual SeasonEnder tournament on Saturday, April 19, 2014, on our campus at 1050 Cavalier Way, Roebuck SC 29376.

The question set will be NAQT IS-135A. We will have a separate middle-school division in addition to the high-school division if interest exists.

The SeasonEnder will have a field cap of 36 teams. We will use full NAQT rules, meaning there will be powers, negs, and no bouncebacks in addition to each game consisting of two timed 9-minute halves. Substitutions are permitted at halftime and between games. 6 players are allowed per team, 4 of whom may play at a time. We will track full team and individual statistics.

There is no limit on the number of teams a school can register, but players must remain on the school's team for which they originally register, that is, players may not switch from "School Team A" to "School Team B," for example, during the course of the tournament.

The registration fee is $70 per team. Lunches will be prepared by members of our parent organization on-site and will be sold for $5 per person to students and non-coach adults and offered for free to coaches. We ask that you please stay on campus for lunch, as our schedule depends on a quick turnaround that will not be possible should teams or individuals leave.

Registration forms will be sent to schools in our general geographic area. If you would like registration materials and were not mailed any, do not hesitate to request registration materials by replying to this post, sending me a private message on this website, or emailing me at [email protected]. I can also accept registrations through direct email to the [email protected] address.

If you have questions, please contact me. We look forward to seeing a large contingent of teams at our closing event this year!

For information regarding January's Cavalier Challenge, using this year's HSAPQ set, see the forum post particular to that event.

Per SCOP regulations, tourney games will NOT be timed. Each round shall consist of 20 questions, tossup and bonus.

Sorry for any confusion.

Congratulations to Southside A (Greenville, SC), champions of our high-school division, and Killian Hill Christian School (Lilburn, GA), champions of our middle-school division.

Stats for all games may be found at http://www.hsquizbowl.org/db/tournament ... all_games/ (HS) and http://www.hsquizbowl.org/db/tournament ... all_games/ (MS).

This post will soon be amended to reflect the Dorman SeasonEnder event, which will take place on 19 April 2014 and use NAQT Set IS-135A.

This post has been changed to an announcement for April's SeasonEnder, using NAQT IS135A. If you are seeking information for that event, please disregard the updates underlying the top message that pertain to the October SCOP Novice Mirror, toward which this post was focused before editing.

We hope to see many teams in April!

Not entirely. Mountain View is from Georgia, and Brevard is from North Carolina.
