Re: ACF and Powers (POLL)
I think powers are kind of like three pointers in basketball, they're okay but I could do with out them. Given that most ACF tournaments are poduced in pretty compressed timeframes, this proposal would also create extra stress/work for the editors. I think the status quo is just fine. This is more ...

Re: Spartan Housewrite (Regular difficulty, January 2019)
The reason I made my point about literature editing is that I think there is a substantial difference between someone committing to "look over" questions and someone committing to edit questions. The latter implies a greater commitment of time and effort, and the former seems (to me) to su...

Re: Spartan Housewrite (Regular difficulty, Janaury 2019)
I would, generally, prefer for announced sets to have a designated literature editor. I'm also a bit confused by specifically pointing out that you will be writing the entirety of the philosophy and social science. Why is this true for you and not for the other editors? Frankly, given the quality of...

I'm a bit confused as to what the complaint being made is. Is the complaint that "thought" takes up too much of the distribution? If so, I fail to see how this is true - 15% seems like a high upper bound, assuming thought is taking up a philosophy slot, a social science slot, and an "...

As James gestured towards, any correlational argument does seem to fail to account for teams that got prevented from qualifying by this problem - and given the relative difficulty of qualifying via D-value in previous years, I can't imagine the effect is insignificant.
