Re: NSC 09 question discussion

From Packet 5 For 15 points, determine the limit as x goes to 0 of cos(pi*x)/x^2 (cosine of quantity pi-x divided by x-squared). ANSWER: pi^2 divided by 2 [or pi-squared over 2] How is that correct...? I mean, the limit is positive infinity (it goes to 1/0). You can't use L'Hospital's Rule when the...

Re: PACE NSC: format changes, 2010 information

Also note that your cut to the top 16 requires giving teams automatic spots based on paper tiebreakers. PACE doesn't do that. Honestly, from my perspective, that long list of ideas just isn't worth a very marginal and debatable improvement in fairness and experience. For a large tournament like NAQT, using groups would require at least three stages (something like 24 groups of 8; 6 groups of 8; two groups of 6; final four)...

PACE has never had a letter round or a lightning round format (and I've been here since almost the beginning). Oh yeah, I remember what else I was going to say. The internal consistency will also allow bonus conversion to be used to seed the group champions into the semifinal groups instead of points-per-game which is significantly schedule-dependent, if desired.
