Re: FACL 3 -- 8-8-17

Michael and Sameer, I can put one of you on a team with Henry Baer (who does know visual arts).

As for Discord, I haven't used it but will try it out on Monday -- I'll close the field and put out an update then.

Yo dawg where's the film at Clark Smith has volunteered to contribute some jazz and film for the next edition of this, but he won't be able to write it for this packet. However, all areas of fine arts will be represented in future sets. A shootout format is a good idea considering that this is only...

FACL 3 -- 8-8-17

For those of you who don't know, I've been writing the third packet of my FACL (fine arts common link) series. This packet will be noticeably harder than the previous packets (which are posted on the collegiate packet archive), probably around CO difficulty, and is tossups-only. For those of you who...

How to not get overwhelmed by the college canon

My apologies if this should be posted elsewhere; feel free to move it if need be. For those of you who don't know, I'll be a freshman at Berkeley this fall and played pretty well at HS level. Over the past few months, particularly during the summer, I've been trying to study deeper to get better at ...

In general, I really enjoyed playing this set, and I found many of the tossups to be on underappreciated but "important" material. As a vis arts player versed primarily in the canon, I had fun learning about a lot of new things. On the other hand, there were a few tossups which seemed like...

IMSANITY 5 -- Available for mirrors January 13, 2018

Hello! IMSA is pleased to announce the return of IMSANITY for the 2017-18 school year! IMSANITY will be available for mirrors starting January 13, 2018 and is written at around the HS nationals (PACE) level. The set will be written by members of the IMSA A team and edited by Dennis Loo, Sarah Angelo...

To add to the DII teams that Jon has already posted, I think Minnesota can make a splash next year. Brian Kalathiveetil and John Waldron are both science players, but they complement each other pretty well in other areas and will only improve with more studying.

Getting good at 20th-century vis art

I recently graduated high school, and over the past year, I've become a pretty good vis arts player (usually getting ACF regs tossups within the first half of the question at NASAT practices). I generally do well with tossups on pre-20th century artists, or later famous artists (e.g. Picasso, Dali, ...

Yes. Can we just ta...
