Re: How to Run a Good Tournament

When running a large tournament with a 6-8 game round robin followed by playoffs, finish prelims before lunch if at all possible. This gives the stats person an hour to figure out who is in what playoff bracket/has made playoffs before without getting bugged by impatient teams.

Some of the most memorable games I've seen: First, the 2008 HS NCT game between East Lansing (Kurtis) and Eden Prairie in the playoffs, with winner reaching top 6. Eden Prairie got a huge lead, but Kurtis got a bunch of stuff in the second half and EL won. I think Gautam was there too; was it still ...

You have to be careful about just throwing down stuff like Flory-Huggins. Along with not using flimsy wire, don't use those stupid clip connections that get used in phone jacks and ethernet cords. They break way too often. If all external wiring connections can be made like the ones shown below, that would be awesome. Also, being able to separate the buzzer, cord, box, an...

Along the same lines, how badly do you expect to need Michigan's buzzers? Since we seem to be sending a team to the Canada site, we need to figure out how they would most be needed.
