Re: 2018 Sun God Invitational General Discussion

Much as I would love it, I actually think that .5/.5 math would be excessive in any set beyond HS difficulty, and .5/.5 "pure math" would be just insane given how relatively few people study the advanced topics (compared to, e.g. CS). Pursuant to a private conversation I've been having, I...

I enjoyed reading this set. Some typographical errors that it might be useful to correct (some substantive, some not): In Harvard/UCSD/Swarthmore A, Joe Tinker's name is misspelled "Tinkers" and the German name of the Ring cycle is given as Der Ring des Nibelungens when it should be Der Ri...

I will say that I didn't play this tournament and haven't looked at the set, but the Turkey tossup stands out to me as unfriendly because none of the clues in power do anything at all to narrow the answer space geographically. This is an important point made well. As I mentioned in a Facebook comment today, it's useful to think of eligibility rules not just as a punitive measure, but as a tool to help clubs understand which players are of an appropriate level of experience to be playing the set. The lack of clarity in thi...
