Re: 2011 PACE NSC Hotels and Transportation information

This was roughly the same era. I traveled a lot when I lived in the city, and when I stood in the queue for a taxi I always had to tell the dispatcher that I need a taxi that accepted credit cards. Perhaps that has now changed.

A further word from an almost native: Any of the suburban taxis (American, 303, etc.) are generally good and will pick you up at O'Hare or Midway. If you take a Chicago taxi, keep in mind that most do NOT take credit cards, and quality of service is hit or miss. Also, if it's a typical Chicago June,...

Angelo, your points are well taken with regard to "legitimacy". But Charlie and Fred are right. If you want to promote good quiz bowl, then involving the OSAA is hardly worth it. Continue to do all the promotion you can, it might take awhile and you might end up with a much smaller numnber...

I do use bouncebacks in practice; at tournaments, it depends on the field...I think with mostly competitive teams it makes for exciting games. My two cents worth: If there is a risk of even one slow moderator, then I would have untimed matches. It's not fair to the teams otherwise. Re: "This makes me feel stupid. I don't think i'm coming back."

There is a downside, though: because of the relatively small number of dedicated staffers, some TDs here are reluctant to go above 24 teams (guilty) because of the lack of more than 15 or so qualified staffers on a given weekend. This means that there are fewer opportunities for B and C teams to pla...

I agree with everything that's ben said, but I do want to add another variable to the equation. Quiz bowl is a competition.
