Re: Thanks and General Discussion

I enjoyed this tournament a lot, thanks to Will and Jordan for writing it.

In response to Jordan's question, I didn't really find any of the answerlines too unusual or difficult to figure out. Actually, I thought you did a good job finding fresh clues for well-known answers.

I fully agree with all of the above, one minor point I'd like to add is that scorekeepers should be careful to ask players for full names and check their spelling, especially in the first round so stats people can enter it into SQBS.

Re: Specific Question Discussion

This "getting frozen" tossup was pretty fun, but it's a good example of a problem in mACF question writing that's worth addressing. This question uses clues from five different franchises (Pokemon, Warcraft III, Avatar: the Last Airbender, The Incredibles, and the 2013 Disney film) but on...

This is my fault, made an error formatting the set. The Ems tossup was not meant to be in the set, so my apologies for that.

Re: Matt J's Stuff

Kythera and Ottoman Empire were probably dropped a little too early, makes the location and time period too clear. Maybe put those clues after those about the legal dispute? Also, based on his name I'm guessing Lord Elgin is Scottish and not English, if that makes a difference.

I don't think the question was less legitimate because of its source, but I do think the answerline was too obscure for a tournament with only one trash question. Obviously these types of questions are going to be polarizing but having it as the first tossup was pretty confusing to me and should pro...

Yeah, the main problems were that some categories were just too difficult to write fun tossups on and that tossup length was variable. As long as tossups are limited to 6-8 lines and certain categories are broadened to allow for more creativity, the tournament should continue. And also, don't includ...
