Update This is a reminder that you have one week to submit or register for Guerilla Imaginary Landscape. So far, I have accounted for 15–20 people who are planning to write over 160 questions in total. (That’s already as long as a standard set with eight packets of 20!) I want to thank everyone who...

Since there has been a lot of discussion involving Terrapin, I wanted to release some graphs that show where players at the Maryland site actually buzzed. There were 2063 correct buzzes in 112 games at the Maryland site, which is 22% of the 516 games across all Terrapin sites.¹ Please carefully cons...

Please be careful when writing clues based on music notation. Here are a few examples of clues where it seems the music notation was incorrectly “translated” into English. While I believe these were really good clues, a few simple mistakes (which I have underlined ) made them unsuccessful in practic...

Re: 2016 MYSTERIUM Errata

I think the Hubble parameter question referred to it as the "first rung" on the cosmic distance ladder. I believe it is standard to number the rungs from the bottom (i.e. measurements for closer objects). Furthermore, attempting to correct this by saying something like "top rung" or "farthest rung"...

The tossup on Shavuot led in with a clue to the effect of "The John Doe-like placeholder name Ploni Almoni comes from a book read on this holiday." One of our opponents buzzed in before the word "this" and said "the Book of Ruth," which of course would have been correct had the clue ended "...this ...

If one is getting to DC by Friday night, would it be more convenient and cost-efficient to get a hotel in DC and take the metro to College Park in the morn' or to get a hotel in the College Park area? Re: Errors Report and Discussion

I'm a little confused by this. The tossup reads, "a piece for two string orchestras tuned a semitone apart." If you're trying to suggest that it should read "quarter tone," I don't think that's right, in spite of what a certain Wikipedia list article might claim. I don't have access to a score righ...

The question on composers from Poland confuses a semitone with a quarter tone, which is an interval half as wide as a semitone:
