Re: Harvard Fall Tournament XIV at New York University (Nov. 9, 2019)

Oof, that's my fault for only checking the opening post of that thread. I'll talk to our club and figure out what to do. Thanks for bringing that to my attention!

Re: NYC Summer Open date poll

Unfortunately, after plans A, B, C, and D all fell through (due to a combination of bureaucracy and bad luck), NYU will be unable to host a summer open this year. With Raynor and Conor, I would encourage other NYC or NYC-adjacent institutions to see if they would potentially be able to host somethin...

Re: NYC Summer Open date poll

Just letting everyone know we're currently working on getting rooms for this. We should hopefully have some secured within the next couple of weeks at the latest.

Re: ILLIAC (Spring 2019 - ACF Fall + Set)

I suspect you're as eager as us to find this out, but is there any talk of a new Northeast/New England site to replace the former one at Harvard? Thanks!

Congratulations to Rutgers A for winning this tournament, followed by a tie between our house team and Brown for second place. Stats are available here . Thanks to Rahul for directing this tournament, to Rohan and Lev for doing statistics, and to Andrew, Harrison, Danny, Doug, and Rachel (and, uh, m...

Re: EFT 2018 - Specific Question Discussion

Can I see the tossup on the Book of Judges? I'm curious as to what translation was used for the quotation in the first line, as I remember it being different from the translations I've read.

NAQT Collegiate Novice (CNS-177C) at New York University (Oct. 27, 2018)

This tournament has been announced on NAQT's website for some time now, but we figured a forum post was overdue. To that end: New York University is exicted to announce a mirror of NAQT's Collegiate Novice (CNS-177C) on Saturday, October 27, on our campus in New York City's Greenwich Village. See mo...

Re: AVERY

If I have the time, I may write a short packet of questions with descriptive answerlines where the player must provide exactly the answer printed in the packet, in honor of the time in high school I negged because I answered Joseph's "coat of many colors" when the packet said Joseph's "coat with man...

Re: Working on Illinois question sets

As a veteran of Illinois quiz bowl, I would be happy to contribute to Scobol Solo and Masonic, particularly the latter. Admittedly, I'm fairly inexperienced as a writer, but I can certainly send some examples of questions I've written if you like.

I'm currently in Europe so ideally before 6-7pm EST (=12-1am CET). But don't prioritize my inclusion over a convenient time for everyone in the US.

Re: RAPTURE - A religion side event [Summer 2018]

This religious studies major is very excited for this event, I'll finally be able to put my knowledge to good use (though it won't help convince my parents that I'm not wasting my time).

I would enjoy playing this. I've entertained the idea of writing something like this before, but never followed through.

Re: we should be doing religion better

I have long argued that the idea of "religion in the distribution" is unnecessary and ends up doing three things: -giving free points to people of certain religious or cultural backgrounds I'm not convinced "giving free points to people of certain religious or cultural backgrounds" is necessarily i...

Re: we should be doing religion better

First, I realize I'm entering into a debate that's as old as quiz bowl itself surrounding what should and shouldn't be asked about, and I'm quite unaware of much of what has been said before me. I've also played very few tournaments above regular difficulty, and nearly my entire high school career c...
